Marsha Mantykow
I hope you all had a wonderful New Year and a reflective Yom Kippur. October is here, marking the official start of our social season. I don’t think I’m giving away any secrets by acknowledging that this article was written a few weeks before publication. So, apologies if an event already happened or if RSVP deadlines are no longer valid. That’s why it’s important to read those very informative emails sent out by our secretary Carol Gordon.
The season’s inaugural Ladies Coffee will be held on Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m., hosted by Sandy Rosen and yours truly at Sandy’s home. Please join us as we catch up with each other. Most importantly, come meet Mikki Shepis, our new Coffee coordinator. And, yes, she’ll be looking for volunteers for the coming season! These Coffees are a special time to take a breath and catch up with friends. Let’s ensure they continue. RSVP to either Sandy at sandyrosen458458@gmai.com or me at marnes1@comcast.net by Oct. 10.
Oct. 15 will be an evening at the Gaslight Music Hall in Oro Valley at 6 p.m. The group cost is $15 a ticket per person. The show will feature The Beatle Brothers. These seasoned, accomplished musicians always loved the music of the Beatles and have formed a trio who faithfully reproduces their music with an acoustic twist. Because of the high demand for this performance, the date for RSVP has passed. We will send out an email if any additional tickets become available.
The annual Fall Potluck will be on Nov. 5 at the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center. We’re planning a “breakfast for dinner” menu, including all the favorites we love: blintzes, bagels, and kugel, on my! The possibilities are as endless as the creativity and talents of our member chefs. Many reminders with additional details will be forthcoming. This event will include an opportunity for members to vote for the Executive Board Nominating Committee.
Save the date for the annual Hanukkah Party on Dec. 15 at Vistas at SaddleBrooke One. Final details will be announced as we get closer. What we know for sure is that it will be another successful evening of friendship, food, music, and charity. This evening will include an opportunity for members to vote for candidates for the executive board.
As a strictly social club, we are not affiliated with any religious organization. We welcome all our neighbors to join us. If you haven’t already, give us a try. We’re a fun group.
