One of our most popular activities takes place on September 16 in the HOA 1 Activity Center where we all look forward to the culinary inventiveness of our members. Anyone interested in attending the September Potluck should contact Sherry Kaplan at [email protected] or 520-818-3284 to coordinate a dish to bring. These potlucks are some of the best meals you can eat in SaddleBrooke, so be sure to call Sherry to ensure your seat!

The JFG invites its members once again to break your fast after Yom Kippur with us at 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 4 in the Vistas Dining Room in HOA 1. Yummies include bagels and lox, Babka, omelette station and much more. Please send your check for $25.50 to Sherry Kaplan at 37905 S. Skyline Drive by Monday, September 29. Come for the food and stay for the great company.

After one of the best responses ever to the Co-ed Book Club’s battle of the books for the next year, we have seven winners; and they are (drum roll please):

November 13, Love and Treasure by Ayelet Waldman

December 11, Invisible City by Julie Dahl January 8, 2015, Woman in Jerusalem by A. B. Yehoshua

February 12, 2015, Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman

March 12, 2015, Suddenly a Knock on the Door by Etgar Keret

April 9, 2015, A Replacement Life by Boris Fishman

May 14, 2015, Peony by Pearl S Buck

The club is now looking for volunteers to host each session and present the book. This is a great way to use that university education for which we all paid so much.

The first meeting of the new season is on October 9 at 11:30 a.m. at the home of Sandy Epstein at 37063 S. Stoney Ridge Court where Rav Hisda’s Daughter by Maggie Anton will be discussed. New readers are always welcome.

The monthly Ladies Coffee Hour meetings continue to be very well attended and enjoyed by all. Not only does this event offer a delicious brunch and excellent conversation, but it is a great way for newcomers to SaddleBrooke to meet a vibrant and interesting group of women with whom they can find much in common. Our upcoming meeting will be hosted by Marilyn Greenberg and Zelda Aaronson on Tuesday, November 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Zelda Aaronson at 39538 S. Sand Crest Drive

Please RSVP to Zelda at 818-3842 or Marilyn at 818-1367 by October 31.

The JFG would like to express their condolences to Willie Reich on the loss of her husband Joe. Joe was one of the founding members of the JFG and a never ending volunteer with Kids’ Closet and the Golden Goose to name only a couple. Everyone will remember Joe for his good nature and wonderful smile.

For further information about the JFG please contact Seth Basker at [email protected] or 425-391-5000.
