Hard to believe but the High Holidays are around the corner. To where did the summer disappear? The JFG will be holding its annual Break-Fast after Yom Kippur on October 12 in the Vermilion Room, HOA1. Menu includes an omelet station (peppers, onions, mushrooms, black olives, shredded cheddar cheese), challah, bagels, cream cheese, lox, cheese platter, tuna fish, chocolate babka, fresh fruit and drinks. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 6:45 p.m.
Cost of the Break-Fast will be $27.50 per person and checks should be sent to Laurie Colen, 63845 E. Orangewood Lane. Please do not leave checks in the door or the tube without notifying Laurie first. Please do not drop off checks in the mailbox as the U.S. Postal Service can remove them.
Thanks to Carol Gordon, Suzanne Daniels and Susan Hackett for co-hosting the September Ladies’ Coffee. Despite the absence of our snowbirds and vacationers, these coffees are always well attended by our members who very much enjoy the camaraderie of this women-only event.
Eileen Feldgus and Willie Reich have kindly offered to co-host the Ladies’ Coffee on Monday, October 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Eileen’s home, 37773 S. Golf Course Drive. Please RSVP to Eileen at [email protected] by Tuesday, October 11.
For the Co-Ed Book Club, the votes are in and we have our reading list consisting of:
And After the Fire by Laura Belfer
The Mapmaker’s Daughter by Laurel Corona
The Marriage of Opposites by Alice Hoffman
The Yiddish Policeman Union by Michael Chabon
Pumpkinflowers by Matti Friedman
Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks
Doomed to Succeed by Dennis Ross
Haven by Ruth Gruber
Please contact Sandy Epstein at [email protected] to sign up for a book to present. Other than leading the discussion, presenters need only provide dessert and drinks. It’s fun, easy and interesting.
Would you like to be more involved in the JFG? We are looking for volunteers to be on the Potluck Committee headed by Faith Fromson. The JFG holds two potlucks a year, in fall and early winter; we are looking for people to help out on the day for set up/tear down. It is not very time consuming and you would be working with your friends. If you are a snowbird, feel free to serve for the winter potluck. The biggest plus is that the volunteers get to access the buffet first! Now that is a real perk. To be a volunteer, please contact Faith Fromson at 818-1154 or [email protected].
We count on your support and encourage you to join our regular activities, which are solely intended to encourage and enable the extension of Jewish friendships throughout SaddleBrooke. Please make your suggestions known to Steve or Sy.
For further information about the JFG, please contact Co-Presidents Steve Grabell at [email protected] (520-825-4159) or Sy Efron at [email protected] (520-825-7047).
