The Co-ed Book Group’s last meeting for this season discussed The Aleppo Codex by journalist Matti Friedman. Presented by Sam Horowitz, the book is a true-life detective story tracing how this precious manuscript was smuggled from its hiding place in Syria into the newly founded state of Israel and how and why many of its most sacred and valuable pages went missing.
Members of the Co-Ed Book Club are asked to send in their nominations for books for next season to Sandy Epstein at [email protected]. Please include a short blurb about your nominated book as an enticement to get others interested in voting for it and making it a book selection for 2016-17. The Book Club reads both non-fiction and fiction with the only requirement being a subject of Jewish interest or written by an Israeli or Jewish writer. The club enjoys discussing books dealing with contemporary Jewish thought. We welcome new members.
We count on your support and encourage you to join our regular activities, which are solely intended to encourage and enable the extension of Jewish friendships throughout SaddleBrooke. Please make your suggestions known to Steve or Sy.
