Introducing SaddleBrookeVillage

Dick Fleming

SaddleBrookeVillage is an umbrella organization and incubator where ideas are developed and implemented to provide SaddleBrooke residents with non-medical resources to stay in their homes as long as they are able. Some support services will also benefit the larger community. Its target population is home-alone and caregiver-based homes, physically limited residents and others who have need for stay-in-home services. SaddleBrookeVillage will collaborate with established community organizations providing services and support to residents. Representatives of these organizations can help guide these efforts by serving on the Village Council.

Current Village activities include a report and articles on assisted living communities in Tucson and development of a resident-referral database system to evaluate the performance of contractors. The database will include home contractors and providers of personal care services. In early planning are a home safety inspection project and assessments of home help, social and transportation needs of this population. As plans get developed SaddleBrookeVillage will be recruiting residents to help in these endeavors – Friends helping Friends.
