SaddleBrooke Freethinkers meetings are now held at the SaddleBrooke One Clubhouse Vermillion Room on Sunday mornings, with a coffee social at 9:15 a.m. and the program beginning at 9:45 a.m.

We are proud to have Thomas P. Miller, Ph.D., speak to us on “How Will Our World Change on January 20, 2025?” on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Dr. Miller says, “The fall election looks like it will be a rematch between President Biden and former President Trump. Current polls have Trump winning. The Supreme Court will likely keep the former president on the ballot when it begins hearings on the issue on Feb. 9, because he has not been found guilty of insurrection, and he has not been charged with insurrection in any federal court case.” Dr. Miller will discuss these points and others to watch for in the run-up to the election. There will be time for discussion.

Dr. Miller is Professor Emeritus of English and past Vice Provost at the University of Arizona. He received his bachelor’s degree in English at Penn State and his doctorate in rhetoric and composition at the University of Texas in Austin. He has won awards for his research, teaching, mentoring graduate students, and leadership on diversity issues and shared governance. He has published five books and more than 50 scholarly articles, chapters, and reviews. He is currently working on a book on leadership, tentatively titled Reimagining Leadership as a Liberal Art and Integrative Discipline.

SaddleBrooke Freethinkers provides a forum for the responsible search for truth and meaning in understanding and solving human problems by applying science and reason. We believe that tolerance, compassion, equity, and civility should characterize interactions among people and organizations. We strive to achieve these goals through meetings, lectures, and discussions.
