Health Night Out presents What Should I know about Alzheimer’s? on Monday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the MountainView Country Club Ballroom; SaddleBrooke Health and Wellness will host Speaker Kelly A. Raach.
Are you or anyone you know planning to live for another 10 years or so? Well, here is a topic you will definitely need to know about. Alzheimer’s is present in our families and in our community. The more you know the more you can help yourself and the others around you.
For example, it is important to remember that if a person with Alzheimer’s or dementia is a Medicare beneficiary, Medicare will usually pay for some, but not all, care costs. To learn more about an insurance type suitable for people living with Alzheimer’s head to the Alzheimer’s Association website.
Don’t miss this opportunity to get up to date information with one of the most rapidly growing diseases for our senior population.
The presentation will cover the following topics:
The 10 warning signs
Basic overview of Alzheimer’s disease
Risk factors
What is involved in getting a diagnosis
Benefits of early detection including accessing available treatment, planning for the future and participating in clinical trials
Important elements of caregiving and caregiver support
Our presenter for this evening is Kelly A. Raach, the Southern Arizona Regional Director for the Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter. Prior to coming on board as the Regional Director, she was a volunteer advocate and support specialist for the organization. For more than 10 years, she has been working with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias in many different capacities including long-term care, program development, individual and caregiver support as well as community awareness building. Kelly holds a number of positions in the community including the Caregiver Consortium, Mayor’s Senior Task Force and Congressman Barber’s Senior Task Force among other various volunteer positions. In 2010 Kelly graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Business Administration from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. Kelly believes that caring for those who have cared for us is one of the highest honors one can have.
Following the presentation there will be a guided discussion led by Alzheimer’s Association with adequate time given for personal questions.
