Graduation Celebration

Richard Martin

All we can say is wow, yippie, cheers, sensational, nice, stupendous, astonishing, awesome, fantastic, marvelous, huge, electrifying, and wonderful! Why are we longtime SaddleBrooke square dancers so excited? The reason is simple. On Dec. 12, we graduated 27 wonderful new students in our mainstream square dance class.

Like other SaddleBrooke clubs, COVID shut us down in early 2020, so this is our first graduating mainstream class since April 2019. During our COVID timeout, medical issues forced several of our veteran dancers to hang up their square dance shoes, so this new class is a much-appreciated “shot in the arm” for our club.

Our club is very fortunate to have Bob Asp and Dean Singleton as our club callers, as they are among the best square dance callers you will find anywhere in the country. They were both present to celebrate with us, and when our students and plus dancers joined together, we had six squares on the dance floor. It has been a long time since we have seen 48 dancers on the floor at the same time.

Square dancing is alive and well in SaddleBrooke, and life is good!
