Ah! Spring is in the air

Pollen is everywhere

The bees are busy

We danced till we were dizzy

But who gives a care

When spring is in the air

Once upon a bright, sunny, spring afternoon in April, the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club and spouses came together at Bianchi’s Italian to wish our fellow dancing snowbirds farewell for the summer. Instead of celebrating outside in the blowing pollen, we partied in the cool confines of Bianchi’s Restaurant. The helpful staff removed all the tables so we could dance till our hearts were content. All that was left were nine booths surrounding the dance floor, decorated with multi-colored, fresh roses from Shirley Miller’s home garden. I don’t know what smelled the best, the scent of the flowers or the aroma of the delicious Italian food.

We danced to our favorite tunes, shared our dreams, consumed our favorite beverages and took nourishment from the food prepared by the skilled chefs in the kitchen.

A contest was held for our favorite decorated bonnets made out of paper plates and plastic fruit, pine cones, ribbons, a flower pot and even an eatable one made from Hershey Kisses. The winner that received the most votes was Charli Jackson. Her hat resembled the extravagant hats that are called fascinators.
