On September 10, what a joy it was to put on my name badge, dust off my music folder and begin fall rehearsals with the SaddleBrooke Singers. After the success of our crowd pleasing, 50s themed spring concert, we are excited to see what our wonderful director has in store for the group this fall. This will be the third concert in SaddleBrooke conducted by Director Tanya Elias-Graf. Tanya always knows how to make our weekly rehearsals both productive and enjoyable. Her leadership is much appreciated by the group members and I am in awe of her talent.
As a new member to the SaddleBrooke Singers last fall, I was overwhelmed by the gracious welcome I received by the returning singers. As a novice member, I never felt awkward or out of place with this hospitable group. And for the second year in a row, what a treat it was to attend a Welcome Back party generously hosted by Jim and Kathie Barrett. What a wonderful turnout! This was a great way to get to know or reconnect with the members, as well as some of their spouses. Appetizers and desserts provided by the members were the menu for the evening. It was a delightful way to kick off our new season with plenty of good conversation — and tasty food!
With the return of cooler weather, our thoughts turn to the upcoming Holiday Concert. Last year’s show, A Holiday to Remember, was a cavalcade of 20th century favorites from each decade. It was a pleasure to perform these memorable songs for such an enthusiastic crowd. The Singers are now busily preparing for two performances in early December with the theme of Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. Audiences can expect to hear some traditional favorites along with some unique musical selections along the way.
The SaddleBrooke Singers Organization is comprised of SaddleBrooke residents only and has been presenting programs to the community for over 20 years. The Holiday Concert will be presented on December 1 and 3, 2017. Tickets are on sale now at the MountainView Ticket Office or at the DesertView Theater website.
