Wednesday, June 24 – Four Peaks Beer Dinner

Four Peaks Brewery (based in Tempe) wasn’t always a building of beer. Many moons ago it was Pacific Creamery and later the home of Borden Creamery. Many cows have called this place home but, since cows are bad at paying rent, they were given their eviction notices and asked to move on. The building, originally constructed in 1892, had several remodels over the years, but its Mission Revival style has remained the same. The brewery is built almost entirely of red brick with wooden ceilings and a glass clerestory reaching as high as 35 feet, supported by steel suspension. So, all in all, it’s a pretty cool place to hang out and enjoy a cold brew.

Four Peaks is a close-knit crew of beer enthusiasts who jokingly claim they got tired of paying for beer so decided by brewing it themselves they could drink as much as they wanted for free! But honestly, Four Peaks was started with one goal in mind: to craft exceptional beer and be able to share it with good people. It is as simple as that and, while they are not in the business to get famous and are really not interested in getting their names in big, bright lights, they do listen to their hearts and leave their egos at home. There is a strong passion for great beer and an unwavering respect for the brewing process. They have garnered many loyal fans and, along the way, have been fortunate to win some very coveted awards. Tonight we are featuring the beers from Four Peaks Brewing Company as well as locally sourced meat and produce. This exciting evening starts with passed appetizers at 5:30 p.m.

Passed appetizers – Sunbru

Sunbru Kölsch-Style Ale goes down easily and has a soft, dry finish with a low but balanced bitterness and a light to medium body with a very delicate flavor. It’s reminiscent of a northern German pilsner with a less hoppy, smoother flavor and aroma. Sunbru has a clean, malty, chardonnay-like aroma and dry, refreshing finish.

First course – Peach Ale

A light fruit beer with strong peach aroma, but not an overpowering peach flavor – great on a warm day. Peach was chosen because, believe it or not, peaches thrive in Arizona and the flavor is very compatible with beer. The peach ale has a subtle sweet flavor and aroma while maintaining a light body and color.

Second course – Hop Knot

American malt and American hops crafted with a bold, pioneering American spirit. Hop Knot gets its name from weaving five different hops introduced at seven separate intervals during the brewing process, including cavernous hop-back – which gets so stuffed with whole leaf hops it almost creates a genuine guilt for its excess. Hop Knot is the color of a golden ale, but carries the bitterness of a fine pale ale and the hop aroma of an IPA.

Third course – Hefeweizen

This Ale is the tribute to Bavaria, home of the world’s most beer loving people, with the malty wheat flavor coming from using 51% wheat malt that creates a very low bitterness. It remains unfiltered creating the cloudy appearance characteristic of all Hefeweizens. This version’s yeast brings forth a flavor and an aroma reminiscent of cloves and banana.

Fourth course – Kilt Lifter

Kilt Lifter® is Four Peaks’ award-winning flagship brew, crafted in the tradition and honor of the great strong ales of Scotland. Take one sip and you will swear it had been brewed by men in kilts. It is a full-bodied ale with strong caramel and roasted barley flavors. You will notice its amber color, malty sweetness and a hint of smokiness with a clean, dry finish – a true Scottish Ale. A four time GABF medal winner!

Salted caramel crème Brule

There are two dining options available for this most memorable of evenings: the Gourmet Beer Dinner for $55 per person inclusive of food, beers, tax and gratuity or the Gourmet Dinner only for $45 per person inclusive of food, tax and gratuity (no beverages will be included at this price).
