Now that the weather is getting hotter, are you looking for a fun indoor activity? How about learning to ballroom dance? Free dance lessons are offered by the SaddleBrooke Ballroom Dance Club. Classes are taught by volunteer experienced club dancers who are eager to help you learn and enjoy dancing.
On Wednesday mornings in May, learn International Rumba with instructors Dave Poferl and Mary and Tom Borkovec. These classes start at 10:00 a.m. in the Vermilion Room at SaddleBrooke One on May 1, May 8, May 15 and May 22. International Rumba is a romantic slow dance done in a Latin American style. On Wednesday evenings in May, learn Beginning Bachata with Harry and Dottie Adams at 6:00 p.m. in the Mariposa Room at DesertView on May 15, May 22 and May 29. Bachata is an easy to learn, rather slow social dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. It is danced widely around the world. The basics are three steps with a Cuban hip motion for the fourth step. To register for this class, email Dottie at [email protected].
On Wednesday mornings in June, learn East Coast Swing with instructor Walt Teike at 10:00 a.m. in the Vermilion Room at SaddleBrooke One. East Coast Swing is a very popular fast swing dance done to a wide range of music including rock and roll and boogie-woogie. It is the dance we do at the Sock Hops.
