What better way to ring in the New Year than with a fabulous party featuring exquisite cuisine, fine wines, bubbling champagne, beautifully decorated King Kakes and the crowning of our royalty! Frank and Kathy Hartley hosted the Feast of Kings at their lovely home on January 3 and every Francophile there had a most marvelous experience. After devouring the incredible array of delectables, guests were served wedges of King Kakes for dessert. Those lucky enough to find hidden tokens inside the cakes were crowned king or queen for the evening, toasted with champagne and were requested to make a short acceptance speech. A totally delightful evening!

Our royalty will be honored again on February 7 during La Chandeleur Crepe Party. Dozens of mouthwatering crepes will be filled with savory or sweet concoctions created by our members. This Mardi Gras themed party is one of the highlights of our season of events and it is always well attended.

Coming up on March 19 we will honor our founders, Bill and Suzanne Brown, at the Julia Child/Jacques Pepin Progressive Dinner chaired by Pat Dawydowych. For this event, recipes created by these two famous French chefs will be followed to prepare entrees, appetizers and desserts; hosts will provide the entrees and guests will create the accompanying dishes to complete the meal. Guests will gather at larger homes for the hors d’oeuvres and the desserts, with host homes providing the main courses.

The SaddleBrooke Francophiles will conclude their season of activities on April 19 with the Springtime Follies; a picnic accompanied by a series of games for fun. Diners a la Maison, four intimate dinners in January, February, April and May, round out our 2014/2015 calendar.
