October 22, 2016 was the annual I Don’t Want It, You Can Have It sale held in the parking lot of the MountainView Clubhouse. But the EZ Riders began preparation for this day long before October 22. A volunteer committee headed by Phoebe Bax and Suzanne Reagan began working in August. A volunteer committee was formed and collection of items for the sale began. The items were stored in the garages of Phoebe, Suzanne and as many others as they could find. For weeks volunteers sorted and priced the donated items. On the day of the sale the numerous spaces purchased by the EZ Riders were organized by category which made it easier for buyers to locate items they wanted.

Although the IDWI sale is supposed to begin at 7:00 a.m., Phoebe and Suzanne knew shoppers would appear much earlier. EZ Riders, who had loaded their cars on Friday, arrived at our sites starting at 5:00 a.m.! Other volunteers were also there to assist unloading and arranging tables, etc. The sale was so successful that we have already purchased three more bikes and they are currently being enjoyed by EZ Riders attending our sessions.

Prior to the I Don’t Want It Sale, the SaddleBrooke EZ Riders had two other fundraising activities to purchase additional indoor bicycles. From donations from members, family members and friends and funds raised from the sale of EZ Rider tee shirts, three bikes were purchased several months ago. So the EZ Riders are now very excited to have six new bikes to add to those already part of the SBHOA2 equipment.

Thanks to Phoebe, Suzanne, Dave, Joan and so many others who donated items for this sale which helped raise the funds to purchase these additional bikes. We are also most grateful to all who donned their colorful EZ Rider shirts and arrived before daylight to work the sale.

The EZ Riders offer six volunteer-led sessions per week. These sessions are open to all SaddleBrooke residents. For more information on times, location, necessities, please contact Dave Palmeri at [email protected].
