English Country Dancing

Bob O’Grady

Recently, some of our dancers participated in the Activities Fair. It was a lot of fun explaining to interested visitors what English Country Dancing is all about with use of both pictures and video. We described why we like it so much and the fact that it is quite easy to learn and that one can participate without a partner. Give it a try. No commitment is necessary. You can just come and watch us dance.

English Country Dancers meets every Thursday at 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Vermilion Room at SaddleBrooke One Clubhouse. Have you ever wondered what it’s all about? Come and try it and be surprised how easy it is to learn, thanks to our very English teacher Enid Fowler. It’s like being transported to another century. I always feel like I’m in a Jane Austin movie! Wish we could dance in those beautiful clothes they wore then, but I leave that to my imagination, especially when we curtsy. You can come with or without a partner. It’s easy enough to jump right in. This time of the year it’s best to call first in case the Vermilion Room is booked for another event in which case we meet in another location, usually Craft Room 3 near the Gift Shop.
