One of the goals of Women On Our Own (WOOO) is to plan a wide range of events and activities that our members will enjoy as participants. Weekend evenings are of particular focus, because many members remember weekends as times of sharing conversation and laughter with friends or loved ones. Many WOOO members, being women on their own, may be starting a new journey or seeking such an opportunity to reach out to others who relish having social connections, especially on a weekend.
WOOO has created such events for each Saturday or Sunday of every month.
First Saturday: WOOO Happy Hour, various venues
Second Saturday: 2nd Saturday, various venues close to SaddleBrooke
Third Sunday: Ethnic dining, various venues
Fourth Saturday: Member Potluck, various themes at member homes
The WOOO 2nd Saturday was held on Dec. 9 at Bubb’s Grub in Catalina and was attended by 16 women, with one birthday celebration. The varied menu of steak, ribs, chicken, walleye, and burgers presented something for everyone, and a birthday toast added to the happy festivities.
Women On Our Own offers a large variety of events and activities, along with our dining opportunities. Games include bridge, Game Night, Mexican train, trivia, progressive hand and foot, Mah Jongg, holiday dinners, wine tasting, movies and dinner, day trips, Book Club, WOOO Walkers, beginners pickleball, and our new Travel Club. If you don’t find your interest, WOOO welcomes you to create your own activity.
So, if you are a single woman who is not in a committed relationship and lives in SaddleBrooke and are interested in finding out about WOOO or wishing to join, please contact our president Charly McInroy at 603-387-0149 or email her at [email protected]. Our dues are $10 per year.
