One of the club’s favorite spring rides is our trip to southern Arizona. On April 15, 33 Cyclemasters checked into the Garden Place Suites in Sierra Vista, which would be our base hotel for the three day ride. The first afternoon was a warm-up ride to Ramsey Canyon and back, a short 20 miles. Even with the shorter route the ride provided a good preview of the upcoming days of elevation gains and winds! The evening was spent enjoying the delicious pizza from Vinny’s Pizza and our usual Happy Hour.

The second day ride was 42 miles round trip to Kartchner Caverns. The hour and a half group tour of the Throne Room was enjoyed by all. The 50’ tall KublaKhan column formation was the highlight of the tour. The windy return trip to our hotel was rewarded with a fun Happy Hour with margaritas followed by a great Mexican dinner at La Casita Restaurant. We had a private party room there for our group which was very enjoyable.

The third day ride to Tombstone finally saw lighter winds and less climbing. That was our longest day with a total of 50 miles. We had a nice lunch at the OK Café before starting our descent back to Sierra Vista.

Thanks to our sag support team of Pat Somerhalder, Patsy Chase, Linda Hart and Gloria Belanger.

The club’s next fall ride will be a three day ride around Las Vegas, including the Red Rock National Park and the bike path to Lake Mead. The dates will be Nov 17, 18 and 19 and the base hotel will be the Golden Nugget Downtown.

Our motto is we ride for Fun, Fitness and Fellowship!
