Cyclemasters Had Fun Doing ‘Loop the Loop Ride’!

B.J. Murray

Our club never seems to have a boring bike ride, and our “Loop to Loop Ride” was another good example. The ride had interest from all of our club members. The objective was to ride as many of the “loops” here in SaddleBrooke in an hour’s time. So, if you saw us, you were likely on one of the streets that made up our ride.

The streets included in the Loop the Loop were Squash Blossom, Rosewood, Rock Crest, Desert Trail, Spoon, Rolling Hills, Samaniego, Idlewind, Apache View, Canyon Drive, Brassie, Desert Ridge, Lambert, and Whispering Tree. Our bonus loop was Rock Crest, which, of course, our e-bikers loved to ride.

Most of the groups rode 12 to 14 of the loops, with one group doing a few of the loops, then their own thing (fine with us!). All-in-all, a very fun day, with lifesavers given at the end of the ride to all participants.

The next big ride was the Flagstaff/Grand Canyon ride from Sept. 12 through 16.

On Sept. 19 we hosted a potluck meeting at the tennis courts in SaddleBrooke One where we approved our new board of directors for the club. We wish to thank Jim and Gail Thom (co-presidents), Marty Herbert (vice president), Gail Bouffard (secretary), and Skip Brauns (treasurer) who have done an awesome job of running our club. They will be a tough group to follow.

Cyclemasters is always welcoming new members. All you have to have is an interest in cycling, a decent bike for riding, a helmet, and a water bottle. It would be great if you would join us to learn more. Saturdays are the best day to ride with us. We meet by the SaddleBrooke One bocce ball courts.

In October, we meet at 8 a.m., and in November, we meet at 8:30 a.m. Our website www.saddlebrookecyclemasters.org gives further details, including details on most of our ride opportunities.

Cyclemasters has both inside SB and outside rides. Inside rides are typically one hour and are broken into skill level. Inside SB rides are typically followed with coffee at the RoadRunner.

Outside rides are longer and typically take two to three hours. E-bikes are welcome.
