The Landing

Your Cooks had gone to an early morning movie with Julie and Rob (Jerry’s daughter and son-in-law), and after the movie, we all went to The Landing for lunch. The interior of the restaurant was much too cool to be comfortable, so we opted to eat on their patio. Service was very slow, but the server who finally came to our table was delightful! Coincidently, she had been one of Rob’s students when she was in high school! Julie ordered the shrimp cocktail, Jerry ordered the Cubano, Judi ordered the Cobb salad, and Rob ordered the chimichurri chicken sandwich. We were totally surprised that they had “run out of” the shrimp cocktail—before noon! Very disappointing, but the other dishes were still available. The Cobb salad was fresh, plentiful, and wonderfully plated. The Cubano sandwich that Jerry ordered was good, just not served on the typical roll used for Cubanos. The chimichurri chicken sandwich was good and was served with plentiful French fries. While it may have been too cool inside, it began to warm up outside. The Landing has something for everyone. The dishes they had were served promptly and tasted as one would have expected. The lack of a shrimp cocktail was surprising and disappointing.

Jerry Bob’s

16639 N. Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85739, 520-818-7882

Located on the west side of Oracle Road just south of SaddleBrooke Blvd. is Jerry Bob’s breakfast and lunch restaurant, an unpretentious place that just serves a good meal generously, quickly, and efficiently. As soon as we were seated, our attentive server Lori took our beverage orders and our drinks were delivered quickly. Jerry ordered the ham and eggs with hash browns, and Judi ordered an omelet with bacon and cream cheese topped with Swiss cheese and avocado. It came with lemon pancakes, which were out of this world! The eggs were done as ordered, and the generous side dishes were served hot with terrific flavor. There was plenty to take home for our breakfast the next day! Our meals were delivered quickly and done to perfection. This restaurant understands that it is always about the food first and foremost, followed by great service. If you’re looking for an excellent meal served as it should be, this is the place for you.
