Boogie into Funky Town

Vintage Steve Hess and Viv Herman

Vivian Herman

The March class is in Latin Hustle, a vibrant and rhythmic dance style that originated in New York City during the 1970s. Fusing elements of salsa, mambo, and hustle, this energetic dance, characterized by intricate footwork and spins, creates a lively and energetic atmosphere on the dance floor.

Hustle instructor Steve Hess learned disco dancing and the Latin Hustle while a college student in New York in those halcyon days. Winning numerous dance competitions led to his side hustle (pun intended) as a disco dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studios. He and his professional dance partner performed at several resorts in Mexico and appeared on television in Arizona and Mexico and in several commercials back in the day.

Offered in Beginner and Beginner Plus sections, Steve and partner Vivian Herman will have you reliving your own Boogie Nights. Register for either section or both on our website at www.sbballroomdance.com or by email to [email protected]. Beginner classes are held in the MountainView Ballroom on Sundays at 3 p.m. and Tuesdays at 5 p.m. Beginner Plus classes are on Sundays at 4 p.m. and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. Dance classes are free to members, and a nonmember may attend one class for free to try us out. Practice what you learn on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. in the Mariposa Room in the DesertView Theatre facility.
