Ann Vernon
Mary Ziats, an expert baker and candy maker, opened her home recently to eight women who wanted to learn how to make chocolate turtles. She first demonstrated to her class how to layer the chocolate and caramel and where to put the pecans and then she turned them loose to make their own. Each guest made enough to fill a small Christmas tin and they all resisted the temptation to sample one before lunch, which must have taken a lot of restraint based on how delicious they looked!
Attendees were then treated to an outstanding lunch of homemade turkey salad and cranberry sauce, rolls and crème Brule for dessert. Before leaving they were able to purchase the ingredients to make more of this delicious candy. The Treats and Talents Auction Committee thanks Mary for donating her time and talent and to those in attendance for signing up for this event, thus raising money that goes to several worthy charities benefitting children and families in this area.
