SaddleBrooke Troop Support (STS) continues its good works for the military, both active duty and veterans. Your donations support many ongoing projects that supply food and clothing to those in need.
Every month STS purchases food items worth $300 and delivers them along with any donated food to three military food banks in the Tucson area. STS also supplies $200 worth of food and snacks monthly to supply the Military Lounge at the airport.
The organization continuously collects clothing for the homeless at the VA Hospital. Donations for the first half of 2015 total $4,578, using thrift store pricing. SaddleBrooke crafters hold baby showers to collect handmade clothing and supplies for newborns in military families and these are distributed by STS. Showers will resume in the fall.
In addition to these ongoing projects, STS also responds to individual needs. Recently STS was asked to help a female veteran who was about to be evicted because she was ill, could not work and could not pay her rent. STS paid her $700 rent and other groups paid her utilities and provided food. She is back on her feet now.
Last year STS learned about two military families that were not going to have a Christmas due to the veterans having PTSD and not being capable of holding a job. STS provided each family with a $75 food card and $40 in toys for their children.
All of this is only possible because of the generosity of SaddleBrooke residents through donations to STS and participation in fundraisers like the annual dinner dance (November 13, 2015) and golf tournament (March 12, 2016).
STS is 100% voluntary with 100% of donations and raised funds going to support the military. Yearly dues of $10 per household fund an administrative account for some operational expenses.
Donations can be made at the Bank of the West in SaddleBrooke and they will give you a stamped receipt for your records. The yearly dues are also deductible.
