Lisa Breedlove
Members of the SaddleBrooke Dog Park took on a project ensuring “Said So”, a retired race horse, protection from Tucson’s brutal heat.
Lisa Breedlove, a new resident to SaddleBrooke, noticed the horse as she drove along Edwin Road and eventually began to stop with apples and carrots for “Said So” and his friends: a miniature donkey, two goats, and three dogs. The horse and all the other animals were fed and watered religiously by their loving owner, but shade was scarce. Ms. Breedlove mentioned her concerns for the horse to fellow members of the dog park. The loving and generous members of the SaddleBrooke Dog Park offered to help. Five men with experience in construction volunteered to erect the structure once enough money was raised to purchase it. On March 11, Ed Collett, Jay Hansen, Fred Hughes, Paul Johnson, and Frank Leith began work on the horse shelter and finished before the heat wave hit. “Said So” had shade. The horse and the owner of the horse are very grateful to all the people who contributed as well as the men who worked for days to finish the construction.
