SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network’s Monthly Pet Donation First Friday Drop-Off

We are now into our winter hours through April. Drop-off hours are 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Drop off items at the SaddleBrooke One bocce courts, 64500 E. SaddleBrooke Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85739.

Our various pet charities are always in need and are always thankful for your donations. Please consider dropping off only pet-related items in clean, gently used condition. Items such as pet crates (which are broken down), bowls, and large towels are accepted. Cash donations are always appreciated. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, so a receipt is available upon request.

We always need pet food. If opened, please label the brand, type of food, and the expiration date.

We cannot accept Poly-fil items such as pillows, as they present a choking hazard. We are not accepting cat trees. We cannot accept mattress pads, mattress covers, bedspreads, or rubber-backed rugs. We are not accepting sheets or blankets at this time. Any items accepted are at the discretion of the volunteers.

Please do not leave items unless volunteers are present.

Please drive slowly and watch for our volunteers at the cones!

SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network thanks you.

Runway to Rescue: SaddleBrooke Comes Together for Homeless Pets

Diane Korn

Glamour, fun, and compassion came together on the catwalk at the 2026 SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network Fashion Show, raising record funds for homeless animals.

The 2026 Pet Rescue Fashion Show held on Feb. 3 and 4 was an overwhelming success, bringing together an inspiring community of compassionate supporters committed to making a difference in the lives of homeless and abandoned animals.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible volunteers, enthusiastic models (both two-legged and four-legged), and to the generous attendees whose support made this year’s event truly unforgettable.

Thanks to this collective effort, funds raised far exceeded all expectations. While everyone who participated enjoyed an afternoon of fun, fashion, and fellowship, the true beneficiaries of this remarkable success are the countless animals who will now receive medical care, shelter, nourishment, and the opportunity for a second chance at a loving home.

For those animals without a voice of their own, we are their advocates. We are their champions. And because of the generosity shown during this year’s Fashion Show, meaningful, lifesaving work can continue in the months ahead.

Mark your calendars for the 2027 Pet Rescue Fashion Show: Tuesday, Feb. 2, and Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Together, we are making a difference—one life at a time.

Bonnie Barazani’s Selfless Spirit: Giving Back Through Kindness

In a world where everyday generosity can easily go unnoticed, Bonnie Barazani stands out as a true example of compassion and giving. Instead of accepting payment for her dog sitting services or her beautiful handcrafted pottery, Bonnie chooses to turn these opportunities into acts of kindness that benefit a cause dear to her heart—SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network.

Whenever someone offers to pay for her time or artistry, Bonnie simply smiles and suggests a different kind of transaction. She asks them to make a donation to SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network in lieu of paying her, transforming each gesture of gratitude into meaningful support for animals in need.

By celebrating people like Bonnie, we’re reminded that small choices can make a big difference. Her quiet generosity not only strengthens our community but also inspires others to spread compassion—one thoughtful act at a time.

Bonnie Barazani’s unwavering support for SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network reflects the most powerful gift any of us can offer: the gift of kindness.

A Milestone Celebration That Gives Back

Diana Smith

On Jan. 17 friends and family gathered to celebrate Gary Smith’s 80th birthday in a truly meaningful way. Instead of traditional gifts, Gary invited guests to bring pet food donations to benefit SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN), which supports local rescue groups and shelters across our community.

The response was incredible. More than 160 pounds of pet food was collected, and several friends who couldn’t attend contributed with cash donations to SBPRN in Gary’s honor.

We’re deeply thankful to everyone who helped make this milestone birthday a celebration of compassion. Gary’s thoughtful idea is a wonderful reminder that birthdays, anniversaries, and special moments can become lasting gifts to animals in need.

A heartfelt thank you to Gary, Diana, Haley, Kelly Smith, and Rob Corsi for turning an 80th birthday into a beautiful act of kindness for local dogs and cats.

Rocco

Why It’s Important to Update Your Microchip Information

Romayne Trudo

Rocco and his brother Pepper, two dogs from Catalina, escaped and ended up loose in SaddleBrooke. A resident managed to safely secure Rocco, while Pepper ran off. Because Rocco had a microchip, SaddleBrooke Pet Rescue Network (SBPRN) expected to reunite him with his family quickly, but there was a problem.

Although Rocco had been microchipped at Pima Animal Care Center, his adopters never updated the registration with their own contact information. Without current details in the database, the rescue team had to do extra detective work, and Rocco spent the night with SBPRN fosters Barry and Cathy Meade.

By the next day, Rocco was finally returned home, and Pepper had also made his way back.

The story highlights a simple but crucial reminder: Microchips only work if the contact information is kept up to date. Any time you move, change your phone number, update your email, or adopt a pet with an existing chip, it’s essential to update the registration so your pet can be returned to you quickly and safely.
