With no hesitation, the ladies of SBWGA-18 began their 2025-26 season with the annual Cactus Classic Tournament, a three-day net championship. Forty-seven players competed in six flights, playing each of the three nine-hole courses twice. Of course, the newly overseeded courses are in prime condition and the weather was perfect, so the play was amazing as well.
Carol Evans was the overall champion, and three places in each flight were awarded prize money. First place winners in each flight were Jan Bukes (Saguaro Flight), Kay Cruise (Cholla Flight), JoAnn Ellison (Ocotillo Flight), Lynn Stewart (Hedgehog Flight), Mary Ribacchi (Prickly Pear Flight), and Nancy Sartor (Barrel Cactus Flight).
Of course, with this spirited group, no tournament would be complete without a celebratory party afterwards. All members were invited, and the committee did an amazing job providing food and drink for all!
