September is almost over and, hopefully, it takes the extreme heat with it. As we get closer to the official start of the new social season and welcome our snowbirds home, the board has been busy planning events. I am pleased to report that our summer of cocktail get-togethers proved to be very successful. Our August event was attended by more than 30 members.
When you read this, our Sept. 17 Ice Cream Social/Bingo will be days away. I hope you will be attending this yearly event with a new twist: Bingo with prizes and, of course, all the ice cream you can eat—all, of course, without any ill effects on your waistline. Check back next month for a recap. And if you didn’t join us, see what you missed, and don’t make the same mistake with our other events!
The season’s inaugural Ladies Coffee will be held on Oct. 14 at 10:30 a.m., hosted by Sandy Rosen and Marsha Mantykow at Sandy’s home. Please join us as we catch up with each other. Most importantly, come meet Mikki Shepis, our new Coffee coordinator. And, yes, she’ll be looking for volunteers for the coming season! RSVP to either Sandy at sandyrosen458458@gmai.com or Marsha at marnes1@comcast.net by Oct. 10.
On Oct. 15 we are going to The Gaslight Music Hall in Oro Valley at 6 p.m. The group cost is $15 a ticket per person. The show will feature The Beatle Brothers. These seasoned, accomplished musicians always loved the music of the Beatles and have formed a trio that faithfully reproduces their music with an acoustic twist. Because of the high demand for this performance, we required RSVPs by Aug. 21. We will send out an email if any additional tickets become available.
The annual Fall Potluck will be held on Nov. 5 at the SaddleBrooke One Activity Center. We’re planning a “Breakfast for Dinner” menu. The possibilities are as endless as the creativity and talents of our member chefs. Many, many reminders with additional details will be forthcoming.
Save the date for the annual Hanukkah Party on Dec. 15 at Vistas at SaddleBrooke One. Final details will be announced as the date gets closer. What we know for sure is that it will be another successful evening of friendship, food, music, and charity.
As a strictly social club, we are not affiliated with any religious organization. We welcome all of our neighbors to join us.
For any further information about the Jewish Friendship Group or any of our events, please contact our president Sandy Rosen at sandyrosen458458@gmail.com.
