It’s been hot and dry. It has been so hot and dry that the best and safest place to view fireworks this year is on your television screen. Are you missing that red, white, and blue spirit? SaddleBrooke Libraries are coming to the rescue. These books are red, white, and blue! They may not be about the USA, but they have either red, white, or blue in the title. Go into your closet and pull out whatever patriotic items you have and check out this list to complement your wardrobe. Like your clothing, some books are new and some are older. We hope they will make you feel good, intrigued, and wanting to find some more time to read during this summer heat. Visit the SaddleBrooke Community Libraries. We’re cool, nearby, and will help you escape the heat. Stop pining for your vacationing neighbors and keep hydrated!
For fiction titles with a bit of drama, pick up Mighty Red, by Erdrich; Red at the Bone, by Woodson; Redhead by the Side of the Road, by Tyler; White Ivy, by Yang; Blue Hour, by Hawkins; Blue Sisters, by Mellors; Blue, by Steel; Blueprints, by Delinsky; and Blue Woods, Blue Sky, by Ivey.
Historical fiction? Visit the Tudor era at SaddleBrooke One Library with Weir’s The Last White Rose. Try a Western vibe with One Thousand White Women, by Fergus. Or go to White Lady, a World War II book by Dobbs; Woman with the Blue Star, by Jenoff; and Prussian Blue, by Kerr.
Mystery and detective books may be your thing. They are the most popular genre in SaddleBrooke, and these are by popular authors: Between the White Lines, by Sublette; Little White Lies, by Atkins; White Bone, by Pearson; Black and Blue; by Rosenfelt; Blue Heaven, by Box; Blue Labyrinth, by Preston; Blue Moon, by Child; Woman in the Blue Cloak, by Meyer; Bluebird, Bluebird, by Locke; and Seeing Red, by Brown. Every list has books by Patterson, so here they are: NYPD Red, Red Alert, and Red Book.
Still not enthralled by these titles? Try some thrillers: Code Red, by Mills; Red London, by Katsu; Red Lotus, by Bohjalian; Red Metal, by Greaney; Red Sky Mourning, by Car; Red Star Falling, by Berry; and Red Winter, by Cameron.
Lastly, here are some DVDs for red, white, and blue days: White Bird, about World War II; The Red Tent (back to biblical days with Dinah); or White Lotus, the popular drama. For thrillers or mysteries, check out Red Right Hand, Red Sparrow, and Blue Murder.
The Friends of SaddleBrooke Libraries provides the funding to purchase new books, audios, and DVDs. Show your red, white, and blue spirit by supporting the Friends at sbfsl.org. Stop in or learn more about all the libraries have to offer at sblibraries.com.
