The Verde Sputters have been invited by the Men’s Putters to participate in what we are calling the Hens vs. Roosters Tournament. It will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, starting with practice at 9:30 a.m., putting at 10 a.m., followed by lunch at noon. Lunch will be charged to your SaddleBrooke One house account. We need 36 Verde Sputters. There will be teams of four (two Verde Sputters and two SaddleBrooke Men’s Putters). Teams will be determined by averages. Sign-up began on Sept. 9. You can also sign up by contacting Sue Leasure at [email protected] or 303-908-6035. Don’t wait! For three weeks there will not be any “putting,” so sign up while you can. It promises to be a fun time and should be on all your bucket lists. The Roosters have chosen the menu of chicken fajitas, condiments and fillings, Spanish rice, refried beans, jalapeño peppers, and for dessert, cherry cobbler with whipped cream. The cost for the buffet luncheon is $23 per person, payable on your SaddleBrooke One house account number. The deadline to sign up will be noon on Nov. 7.
A big thank you goes to Laura Berkley and Laurie Miller for organizing our September breakfast on Sept. 2. It was simple and elegant, with patriotic flags and decorations on the tables and cute cacti given as prizes. There was plenty of delicious food, with a variety to please us all. Kudos to you both.
As a reminder, there will not be any sputting on Monday, Oct. 14. Sputting will resume on Oct. 21. There will also not be an October luncheon.
The heat is still with us, but it didn’t keep 34 members from putting on Monday. As a coincidence, there were also 34 holes-in-one, lowest score of 38, and no money hole winners. Our low scorers were Cathy Howard and Lee Kump with a 38. With a 39 were Carol Jones, Marilyn Palatas, and Mary Vandermast who also will be getting her Star.
The food bank at Mammoth was excited to receive the school supplies donated by Verde Sputters members. There were enough supplies for the first three months of school. Thank you to all the amazing and generous ladies who donated.
