Our annual Spring Picnic at Catalina State Park’s new outdoor pavilion was enjoyed by 45 guests on April 25.
We were fortunate to have lovely weather which made our two hikes very pleasant.
Jeff Eighmy, a unit 36 resident, led a very informative and interesting hike to the historic Romero Ruins. Jeff’s knowledge of the history of this ancient area and its inhabitants made for a very interesting trek.
Elizabeth Wheeler, another unit resident, led a nature hike for those more interested in the flora and fauna of this beautiful park.
The Saguaros in this area of the park are quite majestic and impressive to observe.
Thanks to Elizabeth and Jeff for sharing their valuable knowledge and time with our group.
A delicious potluck and chicken dinner was enjoyed by all and topped off with beautiful fruit tarts.
Unit 36 has some interesting events planned for the fall: The Great American Theatre, the Arizona Opry and the annual Block Party.
