Marilyn Anthony
The wonderful BBQ at the Mesquite Grill in January was enjoyed by 60 members. Delicious food was served outdoors under the heat lamps and the room was full of laughing, happy diners. We’ll be back at the Grill again for the Mother’s Day Brunch.
Everyone should be ready for the Jewish Trivia on February 17 at the HOA1 Activity Center – a potluck of appetizers and desserts. Last year all who attended requested a repeat performance and Marilyn Anthony has been working on questions to stump us. Come and have your team crowned as Know It Alls.
The next JFG dinner will be March 12 at HOA1. The menu is still to be decided but we will keep you posted and, of course, save April 4 for our annual Passover Dinner.
The JFG and the Institute for Jewish Studies are jointly presenting Go to Your Father on March 1 at 10:00 a.m. at MountainView Clubhouse and again on March 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the HOA1 Activity Center. This program recounts the experiences of a WWII survivor as a hidden child in Belgium. Willy Halpert will speak of his recent trip to Belgium to rediscover the years he spent as Willy van Ham and his attempt to piece together the fragments of memory he retained from that time. To attend this event which is open to the public, please RSVP to Marilyn Anthony at 520-812-1455 or [email protected]. Seating is limited.
On February 12 the Co-Ed Book Club discussed The Museum of Extraordinary Things by Alice Hoffman. Barbara Levinson led the discussion about a most interesting young lady with unusual capabilities.
Our selection for March 12 is Suddenly a Knock on the Door by Edgar Keret, hosted by Marilyn Anthony at 37990 S. Silverwood Drive. Please RSVP by March 9 to 520 812 1455 or [email protected]. Lunch at noon; discussion at 12:15 p.m. Dessert and beverages will be served.
We are still looking for a home for May 14 when we will be reading A Replacement Life by Boris Fishman. Let Sandy Epstein know if you would like to host/facilitate this meeting.
The February coffee was hosted by Brenda McBride and Linda Rein at the home of Brenda McBride. Thanks to Brenda and Linda for such a lovely morning. The next coffee will be on April 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the home of Esther Goldberg, 62847 E. Amberwood Drive and co-hosted with Sue Berman.
For further information about the JFG, please contact Co-Presidents Steve Grabell ([email protected], 520-825-4159) or Sy Efron ([email protected], 520-825-7047.
Membership dues of $15 per person should be sent to Laurie Colen at 63845 E. Orangewood Lane.
We count on your support and encourage you to join our regular activities which are solely intended to encourage and enable the extension of Jewish friendships throughout SaddleBrooke. Please feel free to make your suggestions known to Steve or Sy in the hopes that we can work together to enhance the nature and meaning of Jewish friendship in the future.
