A group of early risers got together last spring to discuss the possibility of starting a second Rotary Club in SaddleBrooke that would meet for breakfast rather than lunch. What started as a discussion is now a reality. Rotary International just sanctioned the SaddleBrooke Sunrise Rotary Club, which currently has twenty four members committed to creating positive changes in their community.
The Marana-Dove Mountain Rotary Club is sponsoring SaddleBrooke Sunrise, which becomes the newest club in Rotary District 5500 and which also joins a global network of more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in over 200 countries and geographical areas.
“We currently have committee members identifying appropriate projects for 2015,” said Dick Kroese, SaddleBrooke Sunrise President. “Our emphasis will be on projects assisting both children and the elderly in ways not already addressed by other organizations. We have a lot of talent in our club,” he continued, “and Rotary gives individuals numerous opportunities to apply personal experience and professional skills to create positive change.”
“We are planning our charter ceremony in January, inviting other local Rotary Clubs and district dignitaries to join us,” said President-elect Doug Sweetland. “The charter celebration is a way for the Rotary family to usher in a new club. Rotary International prides itself on excellent mentoring of its new members and clubs,” he said. “We have an excited and energized group ready to pitch in and make a difference.”
