The Soul Sisters from Resurrection at SaddleBrooke gather for a monthly luncheon the third Friday of each month in the Agave Lounge at the SaddleBrooke Clubhouse. February was no exception as the ladies engaged in a lively discussion about the many types of love.
One of the ways that love is shared is with the young girls at Coronado School in Catalina. The school counselor and principal who track attendance noticed a pattern of non-attendance at the same time each month for the many of the young girls in grades four through six. They readily discovered that the adults responsible for these girls either could not afford to or just were not providing the necessary sanitary supplies. Hence, the young girls did not attend school on those days and missed out on many learning opportunities each month.
Problem solved. The Soul Sisters understood the need and launched a monthly campaign to provide sanitary supplies for the young girls at Coronado School. After each luncheon, several bags are delivered to the school where the counselor distributes them to the girls.
The best part of this random act of kindness is knowing that young girls are able to attend school regularly each month. What a simple way to share our love with others.
The Soul Sisters began meeting shortly after Resurrection at SaddleBrooke started offering Sunday services in the Vermilion Room at the SaddleBrooke Clubhouse in the fall of 2014. With the new church came potlucks, patio parties and Bible studies. However, the ladies recognized a need to grow as sisters in fellowship and truly get to know one another as individuals in a sharing environment.
Each month the Soul Sisters pray, sing, eat and share together over a variety of discussion topics. Since March is the month for leprechauns, shamrocks and all things Irish, the group will talk about unique family celebrations from different countries.
