2018 Adopt-a-Family and Adopt-a-Child brightened the holidays

This year marked a transition in management for the SaddleBrooke Community Outreach (SBCO) Adopt-a-Child and Adopt-a-Family programs. Linda managed the Adopt-a-Family program while Maggie managed the Adopt-a-Child program. We worked closely with Tribal Social Services as well as school counselors, principals and superintendents to ensure that we are serving truly needy children and families.
Many thanks are due to all the shoppers and wrappers who contributed their time and energy to buy the gifts and get them all wrapped, packaged and labeled for delivery on time. We also want to thank the unit and group coordinators who are the heart and soul of this operation. Without their dedication, these programs could never work. They kept everyone on schedule so that the gifts could be bought, wrapped and delivered on time.
This year donations were up substantially for the Adopt-a-Child Program. Program donors provided gifts for 257 Apache children on the San Carlos Reservation as well as 62 families in Oracle, Mammoth and San Manuel. Because fewer families were referred for assistance this year, units used remaining donation money to purchase additional gifts for the Impact Giving Tree. We want to express our sincere thanks for the outpouring of support we received for these worthy programs.
As a reminder for the coming year, SBCO is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. Contributions to SBCO, a qualifying charitable organization, are also eligible for the Arizona Tax Credit for contributions to Charities that Provide Assistance to the Working Poor. Home tour tickets available on March 4

Want to know how others have remodeled their SaddleBrooke homes to improve traffic flow, expand storage options, create a space for guests or simply modernize their surroundings? Then this SaddleBrooke Community Outreach (SBCO) home tour is perfect for you. It will focus on remodeled homes, allowing you to see extensive changes as well as budget-friendly transformations other residents have made.
This fundraising event helps SBCO support a variety of food, clothing and educational programs for children in nearby communities. It will be held between 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7. During those four hours, you’ll be able to visit seven homes. In addition to viewing good interior design, you’ll see smart bathroom and kitchen makeovers, new casitas, revised floor plans and renovated outdoor living spaces.
Tickets for the home tour go on sale at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4 in the SBCO office, Suite L in the Minit Mart plaza. Only 300 tickets will be sold. Tickets cost $15 per person or $25 for two people and are sold only to SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch residents. You can purchase tickets Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. until all tickets are sold. Call your friends and make plans to attend this event.

SaddleBrooke Community Outreach needs a new Assistant Treasurer. The duties of the job include:
* Review invoices and sign checks that the treasurer has written.
* Post credit card receipts.
* Review bank statements and reconciliation reports.
* Complete any other tasks assigned by the treasurer.
While a knowledge of bookkeeping and/or the Quick Books Desk Top bookkeeping system would be helpful, it is not required.
