Joe Giammarino
Pool Players of The Brooke wants to thank our generous sponsors Lindsay’s Quality Cues, Truly Nolan, Sunny Side Up Café and 00R00 Auto. Fifteen weeks after closing the Starter Shack, the Pool Players of the Brooke Billiards Club hosted the inaugural 8-Ball Singles Tournament in SaddleBrooke One’s newly opened, beautiful Catalina Recreation Center (CRC). The CRC Billiard Room houses three brand new Connelly 8-foot pool tables with Simonis 360 cloth, three eye-catching diamond pool table lights, and Aramith Tournament Belgian pool balls. The room is adorned with billiard art and there is plenty of room for the spectators and participants to move around comfortably. We all love this new venue!
Tournament Directors were Dominic Borland and Joe Giammarino. The following field of 17 players gathered to play competitive 8-Ball. Dan “Oh No!” Stebbins, Dominic “The Doctor” Borland, Jack Hepner, Bob “O” Ogle, Terry Sterling, Warren Henderson, Jerry Savage, Jerry Cogswell, Gary “One Rail” Barlow, Jim “Shooter” Fabio, Joey “The Bartender” Poulin, Gary Rowell, Jan “Banker” Stebbins, Tom “Ski” Kaliski, Randy “Thin Man” Smith, Joe “Fast Eddie” Giammarino, Richard “Loose Rack” Galant.

The PPB wants to extend a big thank you to all our participants and sponsors. On a special note we had one brave PPB lady, Jan Stebbins, who jumped into the fray to compete against 16 men and won her first matchup. In her next match she came within one shot of sending Joe Giammarino into the loser’s bracket. She was then defeated by Dan Stebbins, her husband! Nice job, Jan, your game is moving in the right direction; we hope Dan cooked you dinner last night.
The 8-Ball Singles tournament started at 1:00 p.m. and lasted 3.5 hours with 47 games of 8-Ball being played. We competed and met some new friends that shared our passion. That is a good day! Rack ’em up!
