American patriot, hero, astronaut, and sensible gun-ownership activist Captain Mark Kelly was the featured speaker at the SaddleBrooke Democratic Club’s annual kick-off dinner. Captain Kelly’s speech met with rousing support from the 310 attendees in the MountainView Ballroom on January 28. His remarkable service to America includes flying more than 50 different aircraft, making 375 aircraft carrier landings, flying 39 combat missions, and spending more than 50 days in outer space as part of his career with NASA.
Also attending the energetic event, were numerous democratic candidates for LD, CD, and state-wide offices, including our own club chair, Hollace Lyon, candidate for LD 11 state representative.
Captain Kelly and his wife, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, now focus their time and energy promoting responsible gun ownership and encouraging lawmakers to find solutions to gun violence. As gun owners themselves, Kelly and Giffords are advocates of the second amendment. Kelly is also a founder of World View Enterprises, a company pioneering a new frontier at the edge of space.
