Let’s go to the Hop!
Dorothy Wood
“Well, you can rock it, you can roll it, do the stomp and even stroll it at the hop!” Danny and the Juniors knew what they were talking about fifty years ago and so did 24 bobby soxers from the SaddleBrooke Line Dance Club on Sunday, September 28. Poodle skirts swirled and saddle shoes burned up the floor in the Vermilion Room to the tunes of the 50s and 60s from a playlist spun by our own DJ Terri Gage. The music ranged from the Four Seasons through Del Shannon and Mary Wells to The King of the hop himself, Elvis Presley. After an hour of be-bopping, the dancers strolled over to the Vistas Soda Shop to sip on icy, creamy root beer floats. A guessing game was held to identify who was who from childhood pictures of our dancers from over 40 years ago! Not an easy task, but a hilarious one. A voting contest was held for The Cutest childhood picture. The winner? An adorable, squinchy faced toddler who grew up to be our very own club President Mary Gajeske. Her prize—a pair of socks!
