Marilyn Anthony
Our meeting on February 25 will be at HOA 1 Activity Center for our annual Jewish Trivia/Potluck evening. Time to start studying and getting your teams together for this brainteaser.
This is an appetizers and desserts potluck. Please contact Faith Fromson at [email protected] to arrange a dish to bring.
On March 22 the JFG is going as a group to the Tucson Holocaust Museum for a docent led tour. Cost is $7 per person – exact change, please! We meet at the Bocce Ball Courts in HOA 1 for carpooling at 2:00 p.m. Please RSVP by March 12 to Sherry Kaplan at [email protected] as we must ensure we have sufficient docents for the group.
The January Ladies’ Coffee was hosted by Marilyn Anthony, done in the style of the original coffees with the focus on the meeting of friends over a cup of coffee and piece of cake. Naturally, Marilyn also provided some very yummy homemade bread. Our new members, Renee and Andrea, introduced themselves with wonderfully funny stories!
On February 23 the Ladies Coffee will be co-hosted by Linda Solomon and Sherry Marmorstein at Sherry’s home, 62758 RockWind Drive, at 10:30 a.m. Please RSVP to Sherry at [email protected] or 825-6586 by February 16.
The January meeting of the Co-ed Book group discussed Chabon: The Yiddish Policemen’s Union. Many members had a hard time getting into the book; some didn’t finish it at all. Yet after the discussion all felt that it had been worth the effort as it did have something interesting to say to us.
Plus many of us enjoyed the Yiddish in it and the total unbelievability of the entire concept.
The group meets next on February 9 to discuss Pumpkinflowers: A Soldier’s Story of a Forgotten War, a memoir of the Israel/Lebanon conflict. The meeting will be hosted by Laurie Colon, 63845 E. Orangewood Lane. Please RSVP by February 6. Optional BYOL at 11:45 a.m.; discussion at 12:15 p.m. Dessert and drinks provided.
The JFG Board would like to thank Sy Efron and Steve Grabbell for giving of their time and serving as co-presidents for the past two years. We welcome Bill Kaplan as our new president and wish him all the best in assuming this responsibility. Bill was introduced to the members present at our dinner at the Mesquite Grill. The room was crowded for the delicious Mediterranean style meal and a great evening was had by all who attended.
It is once again time to renew your membership in the JFG in the amount of $18 per person for 2017. Please send checks to Laurie Colen, 63845 E. Orangewood Lane.
The Board of the JFG is currently planning future activities. If you have any suggestions for events, please contact any Board member. Conversely, should you be unhappy with any events we put on, please let us know. We count on your support and encourage you to join our regular activities, which are solely intended to encourage Jewish friendships throughout SaddleBrooke.
For further information about the JFG, please contact Bill Kaplan at [email protected].
