The nineteenth annual SaddleBrooke Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday morning, October 15. The fair features 75 providers and screeners, over 1000 fairgoers and over 100 volunteers. It truly represents SaddleBrooke in action.
Nineteen years ago, Dolores Robu, Chairperson of SaddleBrooke Health and Wellness, visited a Health Fair in Sun City and instantly decided to collect cards of exhibitors and invite them to come to SaddleBrooke for a fair which, at that moment, was about to come into existence. Residents today benefit from the creative energy, talent and hard work of those who have helped to create the unique community in which we live.
Over the years people have met, face to face, with providers in the local medical and health community. Thousands of flu and pneumonia shots have been given; free screenings have revealed health challenges that required follow-up and, in some cases, saved lives.
The Health Fair has grown and flourished due to the willingness of volunteers who want to make a difference in our community. Over 100 residents offer their time for a 90-minute shift on the day of the fair. The work is fun and valuable. Sign up now to add yourself to October’s volunteer list. You will be contacted later in the summer.
