On Wednesday, April 1 ninety four golfers arrived at the Preserve Golf Club eager to compete in this year’s President’s Cup Tournament. Like the previous year they were grouped into nine flights and, in spite of a forecast of high winds for most of the day, expectations were high. This major event is viewed by our membership as special because the club takes the time to recognize the accomplishments of our past presidents at the luncheon that concludes the two day tournament. This year the words of praise offered by current President Dennis Marchand to the past presidents were not the only tribute. A special plaque engraved with the names of all past presidents was presented to the group. Thank you, Phil Gray, for making this happen.

Following tradition our past presidents formed a receiving line to greet and be photographed with all flight champions and, of course, the Overall Champion. The 2015 President’s Cup champion is Jim Hardwick whose combined score of 132 bested runner-up Bruce Fink by one stroke. Congratulations, Jim! Other flight winners were Bruce Fink, Fred Schneider, Rick Savoie, Tom Beahan, David Cohen, Len Raab, Jean Gonneville and Ed Skaff. By the way, all flight winners had net scores below par for the two rounds. Prizes for closest-to-the-pin on the par threes were also awarded to eight different winners. Yes, our sponsors Lexus of Tucson and Golf Cars of Arizona also provided a car and a golf cart as the prizes for a hole-in-one. No winner again this year but Len Raab did miss the Lexus by about eight inches. Thanks again to all who made this year’s event perfect.
