Jewish Friendship Group news

Marilyn Anthony

Happy Hour returned on August 11 at the Agave Lounge at HOA1 with a pizza and salad buffet. It was fun to see all the sun and heat loving members who stay the year around.

Thanks to Lorna Michelson and Kate Grinnell for their hosting of our most recent Ladies’ Coffee. The women of the Jewish Friendship Group very much enjoy these get-togethers and appreciate all the effort made by the hostesses.

Carol Gordon and Suzanne Daniels have kindly offered to co-host the upcoming Ladies’ Coffee on Tuesday, September 6 at 10:30 a.m. It will be at Carol’s home, 62517 E. Amberwood Drive. Please RSVP to Carol at [email protected] or Suzanne at [email protected].

For the Co-Ed Book Club, it’s the time of year that we all look forward to—book selection time. Members of the group have received their ballots and your votes should be sent to Sandy Epstein at [email protected] so that she can tabulate the results and send out the final list of books for next season. The excitement is building! Please consider volunteering to host a meeting and present a great book.

Would you like to be more involved in the JFG? We are looking for volunteers to be on the Potluck Committee headed by Faith Fromson. The JFG holds two potlucks a year, in fall and early winter; we are looking for people to help out on the day for set up/tear down. It is not very time consuming and you would be working with your friends. If you are a snowbird, feel free to serve for the winter potluck. The biggest plus is that the volunteers get to access the buffet first! Now that is a real perk. To be a volunteer, please contact Faith Fromson at 818-1154 or [email protected].

Larry Stillman, a member of the JFG tribe, will be presenting a lecture for the Friends of the SaddleBrooke Libraries entitled Member of the Tribe, the story of the first and only Jewish Indian chief on Thursday September 15, 2016 at 3:30 p.m. in the MountainView Ballroom. For further information please contact Sherry Kaplan at [email protected].

We count on your support and encourage you to join our regular activities, which are solely intended to encourage and enable the extension of Jewish friendships throughout SaddleBrooke. Please make your suggestions known to Steve or Sy.

For further information about the JFG, please contact Co-Presidents Steve Grabell ([email protected], 520-825-4159) or Sy Efron at [email protected], 520-825-7047.
