Jewish Friendship Group

Laurie Colen

The JFG welcomes back our winter visitors and Happy New Year to our membership. We also extend a welcome to new members and hope to see you at our events.

Our new season is in full swing, with lots of lovely events planned.

In January we had our usual lovely and well attended Ladies Coffee. We thank Susan Hackett and Sandy Rosen for hosting and for preparing the delicious food. The Ladies Coffees are a mainstay of our group and members are encouraged to sign up to host. No one has to do it alone; it is fun to do it with one or two partners, so the responsibility is shared.

On February 11 we had a fascinating program, a presentation of Hidden Jews of New Mexico, given by Judy Freeman. She focused on her research of the Jewish people of New Mexico, who settled there many years ago from Spain and Portugal and had no knowledge of their Jewish heritage. This lecture was proceeded by delicious passed appetizers and socialization by our members.

A Ladies Coffee is planned for February 28; the monthly newsletter will have details.

On March 30 we will be enjoying the first potluck of the year, complete with the Jewish Trivia, which is always a lot of fun, and with delicious food.

On Saturday, April 20 we will be having our annual second night Passover Seder.

Dues for 2019 are now payable. Please send or drop off a check for $18 per person to Laurie Colen, 63845 E Orangewood Ln., made out to the Jewish Friendship Group.

The Jewish Friendship Group was founded to promote social interaction among Jewish residents and to perpetuate the traditions of the Jewish faith in a social environment. We welcome all residents of our SaddleBrooke community.

For information about our group or any questions please contact our President, Leslie Nagy, at 355-5064.
