Great news — Computer Club classroom is open!
I’ve been waiting a long time to say this. The computer club classroom is open and completely operational.
We got occupancy on October 4. It was a daunting view to walk in there and see a completely empty room, knowing what had to be done to put the classroom back together again. But thanks to the hard work and long hours of several club members, the network wiring, student desks, instructor’s console, projection system and all PCs were moved and setup in just three days (far ahead of expectations). Following that, our Mac instructors went to work to put the Mac system back together. I am happy (thrilled actually) to say the remodeled classroom is ready for classes to begin.
Classes Are Open for Registration
That means you can now register for classes. Instructors have begun to schedule their classes in the new classroom. Go to saddlebrookecc.org/calendar.html to review the current offerings. To enroll in a class, go to our website at www.saddlebrookecc.org and click on Enrollment > Classroom to sign up for a class.
You must be a member of SaddleBrooke Computer Club to sign up for classes. If you are not currently a member, you can join online by going to saddlebrookecc.org and clicking on Membership. There is a one-time membership fee of $55 per individual or $80 per couple. This gives you unlimited access to all our classroom and online classes for the first calendar year. Existing members pay an annual Course Fee of $30, which provides access to as many classes as you wish to take. Each class has a maximum enrollment, so be sure to sign up early so you get the classes you want.
User Group Meetings
User group meetings are open to all SaddleBrooke residents, whether you are a member of the club or not. We’ve covered an interesting list of topics this fall season, starting with a fascinating talk on Smart Houses in September. In the October meeting, Dennis Korger told us about the changes in the recently distributed Windows 10 Anniversary Update. This update is a complete rewrite of Windows 10. There are a handful of new features and hundreds of minor improvements. The gradual rollout release started August 2, 2016 and may not reach all eligible recipients until the middle of this month.
Apple folks should be sure not to miss Randi Theken when she tells us about iOS 10 New Features on November 21 at 1:00 p.m. in the MountainView Clubhouse West Ballroom. Randi’s presentation will focus on the new features in iOS X and what’s new in the Apple mobile device world. iOS 10 will seamlessly let various programs on your computer, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch work together to make your life easier.
It’s time to celebrate the re-opening of our newly remodeled classroom and the resumption of classes!
