Barbara Barr
The ballroom is not available at our regular meeting time in March. Since we will not be able to have a program this month, we thought we’d share a little wellness wisdom.
How would you like to get some sleep, glorious sleep? Maybe you want to fall asleep more quickly? Or perhaps you want to improve the quality of your sleep? Or are you looking to stay asleep? How would you like to go right back to sleep after your trip to the bathroom? What if I told you that there are some simple things you can do to achieve these goals? Now, I didn’t say these were necessarily easy, but they are simple things you can do to make a huge difference.
Consider for a moment that sleep experts have found that only 15% of sleep problems require medical attention. Doing the math, that means that 85% of sleep issues can be solved without medical treatment and/or drugs. In other words, 85% of sleep solutions are in our control!
In the sleep expert community, the process of getting quality sleep is built by establishing what the industry refers to as good sleep hygiene. Sleep hygiene consists of a number of daily habits and routines that impact the body’s ability to get to sleep and stay asleep. Good sleep hygiene yields good sleep, while poor sleep hygiene yields poor sleep.
These sleep habits and routines that yield a good night’s sleep are simple but not necessarily easy. First, you have to know what to do and what not to do. Then comes the really hard part—doing it!
If you are serious about getting a good night’s sleep, join our class titled “Sleep, Glorious Sleep” on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. Learn about good sleep hygiene and the steps you need to take to get glorious sleep.
