On June 7 at 1 p.m. at the DesertView Theater, we made a movie. We filmed an actual reiki treatment by renowned Reiki Master Patricia Gould. Since beginning reiki practice in 2007, Patricia Gould has risen to be one of the most sought-after Reiki Masters in Hawaii where she lived for 42 years.

Patricia Gould is a Reiki Master of the Usui System of Natural Healing. The term “reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” which means vital life force energy that flows through all living things. Reiki may sound “new age” to some, but it’s anything but new. It’s a form of energy healing with roots in ancient cultures. Reiki uses what’s known as universal life force energy (ki or qi) to improve people’s lives and ailments.

Maybe you’ve heard of reiki but don’t quite know what it is. Maybe you’re considering reiki but aren’t sure whether it’s right for you. Or maybe your doctor has suggested reiki as a form of therapy complementary to your existing medical treatments. We’ll soon have a video of a reiki treatment.

Benefits of reiki:

• Relaxation and stress reduction

• Activating the parasympathetic nervous system (reduced heart rate, reduced blood pressure, increased heart rate variability)

• Pain control

• Reduced anxiety and depression and increased self-esteem and quality of life in people with chronic health conditions

Now living in Tucson, Reiki Master Patricia Gould teaches both First- and Second-Degree Reiki classes as well as gives reiki treatments to those who need the healing energy of reiki to bring their body, mind, and spirit into balance and therefore make for a happier, healthier life. She also provides reiki treatments at Miraval Spa.

As Dr. Oz said, “Energy medicine is the next big frontier.” So watch for information concerning the video with a reiki treatment.
