As the summer months wind down, the Sputters are gearing up for a fun-filled 2016-17 season. On Monday, September 5 they again resume the monthly lunch meetings with a delightful brunch planned following putting.
Considering that the Sputters lose about one-half of their membership during the summer months as many leave SaddleBrooke for cooler temperatures, there was still an average of between 35 and 40 ladies putting each Monday morning. That is a testament to the fun and friendship the Sputters enjoy.
On August 11, the annual Summer Fun Evening is planned as a circus themed event with games located throughout the lower floor of the HOA1 clubhouse followed by dinner in the Roadrunner Grill. Barbara Lund and her committee have been hard at work all summer on this memorable evening. Next month’s article will detail the highlights of what is surely going to be a fun event.
Additional upcoming highlights of the Sputters season are the annual Sputters/Lady Niners tournament in October, Sputters/Ranchettes tentatively planned for February and Sputters/MountainView Putters in March. In addition, the monthly lunch meetings are definitely more than just a meeting with special entertainment planned for most.
Membership in Verde Sputters is open to any resident of HOA 1, 2 and the Preserve not belonging to a sanctioned SaddleBrooke golf group. Recent new members joining the Sputters are Susan Biestek, Jane Gann, Diane Gekas, Jeannine Laframboise, Fran Lowry, Janice Orum, Mary Owen, Mandy Rowe and Barbara Watt.
