Ute Indians

Stuart Watkins

Did you know that the Ute people were the first tribes in the American Southwest to use horses?

I did not, but according to Native American World and an article by Aleksandra Micura, this is factual. She also reported the Ute language, which belongs to the Uto-Aztecan family, is one of the oldest languages in North America.

Their music features cedar flutes and healing ceremonies that exist today.

The Ute Indians were in America long before states were established, and they roamed the Rocky Mountains. They knew this area for thousands of years.

I would enjoy knowing more about the Ute peoples, other than they are named the Ute basketball team in Utah.
