Unit 17 Celebrates Summer
Barbara Barr Bengen
Residents of Unit 17 gathered for lunch at the MountainView clubhouse on July 10. It was great to see everyone and learn about everyone’s summer plans. The food and fellowship were fabulous!
The August event will be a happy hour at The Preserve.
Unit 21 4th of July Pancake Breakfast
Dana Eckhardt
Unit 21’s annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast was a huge success! John and Linda Ansay were the hosts this year and did a wonderful job organizing all the volunteers and food. This year’s buffet included pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit salad, and coffee. Plus, you could get a mimosa or a bloody Mary served by Alisa Fenstermacher and Dana Eckhardt. There was a large crowd, but we were able to fit into the Activities Center to enjoy our fest and celebrate.
Thank you to the following people who gave their time and energy to create this beautiful morning: Silke Bender, Debbie Timothy, Sandy Jones, Barb and Tom Marshall, Carol and Scott Whiting, Doug Crowder, Lou Stevenson, Ron Ruberg, Jim Floerke, Ann Villar, Midge Mollenkopf, and Mardie Toney. As you can see, it takes a village to make this event happen. Thank you all for being there. We really do live in a wonderful place. See you next year!
Unit 25 Appetizer Party
Ron Mazurek
Once again, the folks from Unit 25 got together in a big way to enjoy a great appetizer party at the lovely home of Bill and Claudia Rigg. More than 30 people attended on a somewhat warm evening on June 21. There was no wanting for good things to eat, as attendees overflowed the table with tasty delights of all kinds. Curiously, for the first time anyone recalls, no one brought dessert! But, honestly, the rest of the food was so good that we didn’t really miss it! The early monsoon showers stayed away from the party and allowed folks to freely float inside and out, giving everyone a chance to visit!

Unit 42 Dinner
Fourteen residents from Unit 42 had an enjoyable evening on July 19 dining at The Preserve restaurant. We plan to schedule another Unit 42 dinner in September. We hope at that time to be able to welcome some of the new residents who have recently moved into our unit.
Unit 45 Welcome Spring Event
Nancy Ostrom Kadota
A record crowd of over 70 neighbors from Unit 45 met the cold weather with warm, welcoming vibes at our “Welcome Spring” street party on Borago Court. Our gracious hosts Kathleen and Dave Eaton provided the setting for a scrumptious potluck buffet. Unit 45 Social Committee Chair Kathy Bomwell highlighted the live guitar and keyboard music and vocals by Corey Spector. Folks originally from Tucson to Switzerland, as well as several newcomers, enjoyed the music, food, and each other’s company. Our growing Unit 45 looks forward to future events to maintain the community momentum!
Unit 46 Divas Luncheon
Linda Greenough
Ten ladies from Unit 46 enjoyed a lunch out at Wild Garlic Grill on July 11. The food and service were great, and everyone enjoyed catching up with each other. It was a wonderful break from the summer heat!
Unit 47 Hosts Spring and Summer Socials
Unit 47 started out this year with another very successful March Spring Social at the home of Tom and Janice Keating on Hollywood Way. The weather cooperated for the outdoor event and stayed sunny but not hot. More than 65 homeowners attended and enjoyed the spring afternoon on the patio and large backyard with many shade trees. This was the second year in a row that the Keatings hosted the Spring Social for the unit.
An early, light menu consisted of ham and cheese sliders, meatballs in a delicious barbeque sauce, raw veggies and dip, cut fresh fruit on skewers, potato chips, and homemade cookies for dessert. Guests brought their own alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, and the water, cups, and ice were provided.
Everyone enjoyed the event and was able to socialize with old friends and meet several of the many new owners in the unit.
At the end of May, a second Social welcoming summer and new residents was held at the home of Barry Rossberg and Barbara Ruger. This couple also lives on Hollywood Way and hosted this Social last year. The picnic-style food included hotdogs with trimmings, baked beans, potato salad, potato chips, and dessert. Guests again brought their own alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, and the committee provided water, cups, and ice. Ninety homeowners attended this Social.
The Unit 47 Social Committee was very pleased with the attendance and quality of these first two Socials. Planned next are a Fall Social to be held at the SaddleBrooke One Activities Center and a December Holiday Progressive Dinner with a decorated golf cart competition. Both were also held in 2023 and were very well attended.
Upcoming Socials at Unit 47: Save the date and look for more info in your email! The Fall Social will be held on Oct. 22, and the Winter Social will be held on Dec. 9.
