U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) chose SaddleBrooke for the creation of videos for training swim coaches across the country. For three days in April, elite swimmers from the SaddleBrooke Swim Club, as well as other top adult Arizona athletes, demonstrated proper swim form for the cameras in the beautiful setting of the DesertView pool. Swim Club Head Coach Terry Heggy, who is also on the USMS National Coaches Committee and writes technique articles for SWIMMER magazine, was the lead videographer. Swim Club Coach Steve Truesdale provided video coverage from additional angles.
SaddleBrooke swimmers who demonstrated ideal technique included Samantha Martoni, Susan Moss, Doug Springer, and Rome Yount. Coaches from all over the country will learn how to more effectively teach swimmers by learning from these demos filmed at the DesertView pool once the videos are incorporated into the USMS coaches training curriculum. Coach Heggy noted that the weather was great and that “you couldn’t ask for a better group of enthusiastic and talented athletes to work with.”
While it may seem intimidating to know that your community’s swim club has athletes whose talents are nationally recognized, the truth is that these swimmers and the coaches who train them are zealous promoters of swimming at all levels. They each welcome and encourage everyone in SaddleBrooke to enjoy the water and to improve their swimming skills, whether it’s via lessons provided by the HOA, the free clinics put on by the club, or by joining group practices.
