The Community Church of SaddleBrooke (CCSB) Mission Committee had the pleasure of having Judy Haberski of Tri-Community Food Bank (TCFB) speak at our monthly breakfast meeting. I do not think that any of us realized the poverty that is in Pinal County until we heard her speak of people living under bridges, people with absolutely no food in the house and people that were placing cloth in the cracks in walls to prevent the cold from coming in. These are just a few of the many examples of poverty in this county that Judy told us about. TCFB is one of the major non-profits that Community Church supports through financial support, emergency needs and volunteers.
Tri-Community Food Bank is in Mammoth, Arizona. Their mission statement is, “Let no child go to bed hungry.” TCFB provides emergency food boxes to needy families with proof of residency within the communities of Oracle, San Manual and Mammoth and those needy families living as far east as Reddington Pass and living as far north as Aravaipa.
Emergency food boxes contain good nutritious food; enough to last for three days. A box includes food for three meals for each day for all members of the family. In addition, TCFB offers Thanksgiving and Christmas food to needy families. TCFB also has a thrift store selling used clothing and household goods. TFCB is an all-volunteer organization (non-profit 501© (3)) and an Arizona Charitable Agency. If you would like to make a donation, call Judy Haberski at 520-825-6665. Of further interest is that TFCB is in need of a website, so if you have that ability to build at no cost, please let Judy know.
The Community Church of SaddleBrooke makes regular monthly donations of nonperishable food items to TCFB on our Blue Bag Sundays. CCSB meets every Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the SaddleBrooke DesertView Theatre. We are an all denominational Christian Church and all are welcome.
