The Verde Sputters, sporting their new logo wearables, showed up for putting fun in February amidst sunshine and breezy cool mornings. It’s all about camaraderie and putting challenges when the ladies are on the practice green every Monday morning. They celebrate low scores, holes-in-one, and money hole wins. Membership continues to grow as the word gets out that the practice green is the place to be for friendly competition. All women who are not part of a sanctioned 9-hole or 18-hole golf league are invited to join, even if they’ve never picked up a putter. Simply grab a putter, a ball, and a bottle of water and arrive at the main putting green behind the SaddleBrooke One Clubhouse at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays (later if there’s a frost delay). What could be easier?

In February: Turning in five holes in one this month and winning a $25 prize was Hazel Roper! Four holes in one were achieved by Shirley Samlaska and Ann Grover. Three holes in one were achieved by Hazel Roper, Diana Smith, Rosemary Bounds, Shauna Rand (twice), Mary Ellen Clark, Nancy Maglio, Jan Deschamp, Sheelagh Simpson, and Opal Larkin.

Our Money Hole winners ($5 for a hole-in-one) were Sue Ryan, Lana Steinert, Connie Kotke, Karen Proffitt, Lee Kump, Vicki Johnson and Kathie Bigos.

Low scores for the month of February (39 and below) are recognized with a star on the player’s name badge:

*Score of 34: Diana Smith.

*Scores of 37: Rosemary Bounds and Mary Halverson.

*Scores of 38: Nancy Maglio, Mary Ellen Clark, LaVonne Ashwood, and Jodi Ramsey
